Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is a development of Basic Life Support (BLS), required for the patients who are suffering from chronic disease such as cardiac arrest. A layman cannot handle the ACLS, because it demands training and skills in order to implement the standard protocol guidelines. So, a certified medical professional who has equipped with knowledge and skills can easily perform this job in a healthcare setup.

BLS relies on simple techniques to stabilize a patient in an emergency like Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) while ACLS encompasses the first aid’s ABC term in which the airway, breathing and circulation of patients are closely monitored. All three components must be controlled. Moreover, the medical procedures that are used in ACLS are intubation, shock by defibrillation for heart rhythm regulation or administration of drugs for controlling the resuscitation. During the training, medical personnel also learn how to detect IV lines and surgical placement techniques like the insertion of chest tubes.
